Beating Dunfermline perfect way to dispel Hibs’ home hoodoo - Tom Soares

TOM SOARES has insisted there would be no better time for Hibs to grab only their second SPL win of the season at Easter Road than tonight’s relegation showdown with basement outfit Dunfermline.

Pat Fenlon’s side go into the crucial clash needing just one point to ensure their survival and to condemn the Pars to First Division football next season although the Hibees boss is adamant he’ll demand his players go for the win.

But Hibs have managed to do that just once on home turf – a narrow 3-2 victory over St Johnstone last September – in 15 months with tonight’s match giving them one last chance to improve that dismal record.

Midfield star Soares sighed: “That’s poor, only one win at home throughout the season. It’s been one of those seasons that just hasn’t worked for us but it would be great to finish off the fight against relegatiion in front of our own fans.

“They have been brilliant and with this being our last home game of the season it would be nice to give them something back.”

Hibs have cut admission prices for tonight’s match to £20 and £10 (concessions) with a ballot for 500 lucky fans to win the right to buy two tickets for the William Hill Scottish Cup final against Hearts and have appealed, in anticipation of a big walk-up crowd, for supporters to arrive early for the 7.45pm kick-off.

Meanwhile, Hibs have revealed they’ll be holding a public sale of a “limited” number of tickets for the Hampden showpiece with a number of extra seats having been made available by the SFA. An on-line and telephone sale will begin at 10am on Wednesday for fans already on the club’s database.

Five Hibs youngsters, Paul Grant, Jordon Forster, Harry Monaghan, David Gold and Dean Horribine have all been give new one-year deals and will feature in the new Under-20 team next season.
