Ian Murray admits that Hibs future is uncertain

IAN MURRAY revealed today that he has yet to have talks with Hibs over a new contract and admitted that he has no idea what the future holds for him.

The versatile 31-year-old’s deal runs out at the end of this season, meaning that next weekend’s Scottish Cup final could be his last in a green-and-white shirt. Murray conceded: “I have no idea, to be honest. I have not had any talks with anyone. I think the fact that I have been injured obviously doesn’t help.

“The main thing is getting games. There are options to go places over the summer and play games just to keep fit and things like that.

“But I think that, the way football is going at the moment, budgets are getting much tighter and people are having to wait much longer.

“If you look at the number of players released last week in England, it is unbelievable really. You just wonder what these guys are going to do.

“Whatever happens to me for next season, happens. I am lucky enough to have a fairly decent CV and pedigree but I won’t be rushing into anything, that is for sure.”

Meanwhile, Murray admitted that his side have had to dig deep in recent weeks to not only stave off the threat of relegation but also book their place in the William Hill Scottish Cup Final.

And he expects those who are selected for today’s trip to Inverness to continue in a similar vein because a number of them are still hoping to secure a place in manager Pat Fenlon’s plans for his starting line-up at Hampden.

He added: “I think that seeing the reaction on Monday night when there was a decent crowd, and the amount of tickets that we have sold for the final plus the general excitement of the fans on the street, there is no getting away from the final.

“It has definitely overshadowed our league preparations.”
