Performances bringing supporters back to Easter Road says Hibs boss

The victory over St Mirren saw Hibs host their second biggest gate of the season and although it was up by just a few hundred on that which witnessed the win against Dundee, the underlying trend within those figures is a rise in the number of home fans as Hibs have remained  unbeaten on their own turf.

While conceding it will take time to persuade stay-away supporters to return following two seasons of disappointment, Fenlon claimed that process is already underway and is hopeful tomorrow’s SPL clash with Dundee United – as his players bid to maintain a start to the season which sees them separated from top spot only by goal difference – will provide further evidence of an upswing.

The Hibs boss said: “The  supporters stuck by the club. We sold a good amount of season tickets on the back of two poor seasons and we feel the only way to win them back is by performances on the park.

“We owe them. They do not owe us anything. To be fair, they followed the team through thick and thin last season, in huge numbers at the Cup  final so I think the only way we were going to win them back was to make sure we win football matches and hopefully they then buy into that.

“I think that’s gradually  happening. It’s not a big wave of supporters, but every game we have played at home there’s been an upturn and we want to try to continue that. It’s winning football matches that will bring supporters back to the club, it’s as simple as that.

“They have a love for the football club but if you are not
