Former Hibs striker Lewis Allan has joined Lowland League side Berwick Rangers on a two-year deal.
The 23-year-old, who was a free agent after leaving Raith Rovers during the summer at the end of his contract, will combine playing for the Wee ‘Gers with studying towards an MBA at Longford International College.
Allan is the fifth former Hibee to don the black and gold of Berwick Rangers for the 2020/21 season, joining fellow ex-Easter Road youths Dougie Horne, Jordan Sinclair, Euan Smith, and Kevin Waugh.
The Borderer scored six goals in 22 games for Raith Rovers last season in League One and has previously had loan spells with Dunfermline Athletic, Forfar Athletic, Livingston, and Edinburgh City.
He played ten times for Hibs, making his first-team debut against Alloa Athletic in a 2-1 Scottish Championship defeat in August 2014.
Speaking to the Shielfield Park club’s website, Allan said: “I’m delighted to get the opportunity to sign for Berwick Rangers, get back on the pitch and hopefully start finding the net again.
"Being based in the Borders, I know all about the club’s history, and signing here offers me a great chance to continue my development.
“I know a lot of the players at the club already, the directors have worked hard for me and you can see the club is going in the right direction again. I’m looking forward to the new season and hopefully we can hit the ground running.”
Earlier this year the Lowland League outfit announced a partnership with Longford International College, based in the Republic of Ireland, allowing the club to offer further education opportunities to members of the playing squad and coaching staff.
In July, five players were joined by two club directors and assistant manager Kevin Haynes in starting an eight-week diploma in Leadership in Sport.
Students attend online seminars and are tasked with writing an assignment of up to 4,000 words as part of their work towards obtaining the diploma.
Players at clubs including Chelsea and Leeds United are among those to have completed courses offered by the college.
