Chris Gallagher had a request: “Looking for recommendations: Spiritual healers or shamans in the Edinburgh area to rid the aura of nervousness, impending doom and inevitable defeat from Hibernian FC whenever a spark of hope or opportunity of cup success arises.”

Donny Murray added: “Another disgraceful result at Hampden under Jack Ross.”

Paul Welsh tweeted: “Only 2 players showed up, the wheels really did come off today. Did not take chances and defence had a bit of a ‘mare.”

Ross Macpherson said: “Sorry Hibs but that's just not good enough. There is a real soft centre in this team when it matters, only positive is seeing Scott Allan come on.”

Jordan Brown stated: “The most embarrassing performance in a long long time. No f****** bottle.”

Graham Muir opined: “Utter shambles. Players have no heart. Looked like they couldn’t give a toss. Lottery-style match selection and strategy each week. Boyle hasn’t kicked a balll since his big new contract.”

Grant Aitken added: “Serious questions need asked about their mentality. Unlucky after the first half but the tactics and formation after the second goal was terrible. Aimless long balls and no cutting edge, whereas the Saints could have scored at will. Need to start winning these big, season defining games.”

Darren Neal wrote: “Awful performance, awful result. Not surprised; just disappointed.”

Chris MacDiarmid added: “An absolute embarrassment! The league table merely papers over the cracks. We have been very poor all season, managing to scrape results in the hope that performance would improve which they clearly have not. With the money afforded to the manager this is extremely poor!”

Euan Boyle fumed: “Bad enough to lose, but to look as if we don’t want it is unforgivable.”

Chantelle Cramb added: “Embarrassing, we weren’t in the game at all. Didn’t want to win, and it showed through the performance. People can blame Jack Ross but what about individual players also? We need to let go of the past as well and let players go. We cannot hold on to 2016 forever.”
