Hibs fans have inundated former Easter Road darling Stephane Omeonga with requests for him to return to Edinburgh, after the Belgian Under-21 international sent a message to his ex-team-mate Marc McNulty on social media.

Sharing a video of his pass that set McNulty up for a goal in a 2-1 win away to St Johnstone, Omeonga added: "Miss you @sparkymcnulty" with a forlorn emoji.

Many Hibs fans would be keen to see the 23-year-old back in the green and white and have urged the club to re-sign him.

The combative, piano-playing midfielder set supporters' tongues wagging when he posted a good luck message to Hibs on the day of the derby last month, but a third loan spell in 13 months looks to be on the cards rather than a return to Scotland.

The Genoa midfielder is set to join Serie B side Cosenza after a less-than-fruitful summer loan switch to Cercle Brugge in his homeland saw him make just four appearances.

McNulty, meanwhile, has been the subject of transfer interest himself with Swindon Town understood to be monitoring the Reading player, who has five goals and three assists in 21 games for Sunderland in all competitions.

He was also loosely linked with a return to Hibs along with colleagues Dylan McGeouch, who eventually moved to Aberdeen, and former Hearts goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.
