Hibs will not be pursuing their interest in Edvard Skagestad and Jack McBean after deciding not to offer contracts to the trialist pair.
Skagestad is a 26-year-old Norwegian defender who had previously played for Aalesunds and IFK Norkopping in his homeland. McBean is a 20-year-old American striker who has spent his entire career so far with LA Galaxy. Both players have spent time at Hibs’ East Mains training complex over the past month as the coaching staff ran the rule over them, but neither have done enough to secure a future at the club.
Meanwhile, Hibs have released teenage trio Max Todd, Tom Gardiner and Gareth McCaffrey from their development squad. Todd, an 18-year-old midfielder, is the grandson of Easter Road legend Bobby Kinloch. He and 19-year-old centre-back Gardiner both featured for the first team in pre-season.
The first Under-20s derby of the SPFL Development League season between Hibs and Hearts takes place at Ainslie Park tonight (7.15pm). Defender Jordon Forster is likely to feature for Joe McBride’s side as he steps up his fitness bid following three months on the sidelines.
