JORDON FORSTER, Antonio Reguero and Martin Boyle all featured for the Hibs Development Squad as they fell to a 4-2 defeat by Partick Thistle at Ainslie Park last night.
Adam Watson fired Hibs in front and James Penrice levelled before half-time.
After the break, goals by Michael McMullen, a Ben Stirling own goal and Matthew McInally gave Partick a healthy lead, before Aaron Dunsmore’s consolation strike.
Hibs almost took the lead in the fifth minute as Boyle had a shot blocked inside the box, but they were not to be denied two minutes later when Watson was released in the box, got a shot away and found the net despite Marc Waters getting a hand on it.
Joe McBride’s team continued to boss the game and were unlucky not to have scored a second goal when Stirling headed wide in the 18th minute.
From the resulting goal kick, Partick equalised. The ball found Penrice, and the left-back attempted to send an early cross into the box, but it sailed over Reguero and into the net.
Dominic Docherty then had a shot saved by Reguero, before Oli Shaw was also denied. Watson’s strike from 18 yards hit the bar, and Shaw repeated that moments later on the stroke of half-time.
Hibs capitulated as they conced three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
The first arrived in the 50th minute as McMullen headed in a corner to give the Maryhill side the lead and two minutes later Stirling headed beyond Reguero.
On the hour, Partick made it four as Dominic Docherty found McInally, who slammed the ball home to end a miserable quarter of an hour for Hibs.
The Easter Road youngsters battled back and in the 79th minute Dunsmore’s strike made it 4-2 – but the damage had already been done as Hibs still seek their first win of this campaign.
