Hibs owner Sir Tom Farmer is close to striking a deal that would see the club’s debt wiped out, according to reports.

The Kwik-Fit chief, 74, is believed to be nearing an agreement with Hibs’ bankers that would allow him to pay out a seven-figure settlement amount that would help secure the club’s future beyond his lifetime.

Any deal would keep Hibs in the hands of the Farmer family, but would not prevent a takeover should it be deemed the best option.

The Hibs board are in the process of executing a plan that will make the club more sustainable for the long-term future.
