Hibs Under-20s had to fight back from a goal down to secure a 3-1 victory in the SFA Youth Cup against Kilmarnock yesterday afternoon at Easter Road.
The first goal arrived on 46 minutes as Dean Hawkshaw gave the visitors the lead, but Taylor Hendry levelled for Hibs 14 minutes later after getting on the end of a deflected pass from Cody Mulhall to slot home.
With 71 minutes gone, the goal of the match came from Aaron Dunsmore when the right-back charged into the opposition box before finding the far corner from an acute angle.
Kilmarnock’s heads dropped and Hibs went in search of a third goal.
It eventually came from a penalty. Gareth McCaffrey was fouled, and Neil Martyniuk slammed home in injury time.
There was still time for one more penalty, however.
Max Todd was fouled by Devlin MacKay, but the stopper saved Martyniuk’s effort.
It did not dampen the mood in the Hibs camp, however, as they progressed to the fifth round of the Youth Cup.
