High five for Yogi as Livi rout Falkirk

Missing first choice defenders Jason Talbot, Paul Watson and Craig Barr through injury and suspension, Livi went down early to a Farid El Alagui goal, before Rory Boulding and Bobby Barr grabbed two apiece and Iain Russell bagged a penalty to secure the three points.

David Weatherson scored a consolation for the home side, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the West Lothian side from taking the spoils and the result – the first time Livi have come from behind to claim a win in the league this season – left Yogi delighted.

He said, “I felt we deserved it. To come here and score five goals was different class. The boys did well, they were resolute and it was a hard-working performance.

“I felt the first 25 minutes of the second half Falkirk were the better side, but we were not overly concerned by that because we know we have good pace in the side and could hit Falkirk on the counter attack.”

He added, “The way suspensions and injuries are the now, it’s all hands on deck. But if I get that level of effort and commitment out of them – and into the bargain we played some nice stuff out there as well – then that’s a step in the right direction.”

The First Division’s top scorer El Alagui had already twice forced Livi keeper Andy McNeil into saves when in the 29th minute he latched on to a ball and calmly lofted into the net.

Boulding got the Lions level seven minutes later, however, when he did well to turn and shoot low across Graham Bowman after being set up by McNulty.

The visitors then took the lead, as Scougall set up Boulding for the Englishman’s second of the afternoon.

Livi put the game beyond their hosts in the final twenty minutes. Keaghan Jacobs set up Barr for number three in 71 minutes, before a Tam Scobbie handball quickly gave Iain Russell the chance to get a fourth from the spot.

Weatherson’s tap in briefly pulled Falkirk back into the game, but the Lions swept forward a final time, with Barr making it five.
