A HAT-TRICK from striker
Steven Hislop earned Bo’ness all three points as they chase Linlithgow at the top of the
Super League.

Bo’ness manager Alan McGonigal fine-tuned his side for next week’s derby at the home of the league leaders and, while Hislop scored the goals, it was Stuart Hunter at the back who kept the visitors at bay.

St Andrews started well playing some good passing football, without creating much. It was Bo’ness though who made the breakthrough in the 13th minute. Captain Will Snowdon crossed from the right to Hislop who stooped low to head powerfully past the keeper.

The visitors tried to fight back but Hunter, at the heart of the Bo’ness defence, was rock solid, fending off challenges at ease. As the half-time whistle drew near, Bo’ness scored in the 42nd minute with a penalty. Hunter was pushed in the back at a corner and Hislop stepped up and made an easy job of the conversion.

St Andrews came out fighting for the second half and Bo’ness led a charmed life for a spell. The visitors had three golden opportunities to reduce the deficit but failed each time as the home defence scrambled the ball clear at every attempt.

The introduction of Bo’ness winger Nicky Walker gave the home side a lift. Using his pace he carved open the St Andrews defence. With time running out for St Andrews they were caught on the break. David Caine played a super ball up to Walker on the right wing. He twisted and turned his marker before crossing low for Hislop to guide the ball home and complete his hat-trick.
