Injury-hit Soufian El Hassnaoui released by Hearts

Soufian El Hassnaoui has been released from his Hearts contract after two years of injury torture. The remaining year on the Dutchman forward's three-year deal has been cancelled, allowing him to rebuild his career elsewhere.

He hasn’t managed to play for the first team this season, whilst injury restricted him to 19 appearances last year following his arrival from Sparta Rotterdam. He has undergone two groin operations, suffered an ankle injury and torn a cruciate ligament during his two years in Scotland. Hearts have now taken the decision to let him move on.

“It was a difficult period for Soufian, due to the injuries that he picked up,” said head coach Robbie Neilson. “He was very unlucky here and never really got to show what he was capable of. He’s a talented player and I hope he gets to show it wherever he goes. We wish him all the best in the future.”
