Edinburgh City have slipped six points behind in the Ladbrokes League Two title race after a 2-1 defeat to leaders Cove Rangers.

In quite horrendous conditions at the Balmoral Stadium, Scott Shepherd gave the visitors the lead three minutes into the second half but Daniel Higgins' 25 yard-effort restored parity seven minutes later.

Substitute Blair Henderson spurned a great opportunity to restore the visitors' lead and Cove capitalised when veteran Rory McAllister pounced from just a couple of yards to score with little more than two minutes remaining.

City host Brechin City at Ainslie Park on Saturday February 22, before a trip to Central Park to face Cowdenbeath, who lost 4-1 at home to Stirling Albion.
