The 38-year-old cancelled out Anthony Stokes’ early opener at Hampden but the Gers were stunned when Hibs came from 2-1 down to snatch an injury-time winner by David Gray to take the trophy back to Leith for the first time since 1902.

Ahead of the tie against League One side Ayr United on Sunday, the former Hibs player is looking to right that wrong this season.

He said: “It still eats away at us and anybody who was involved in it, of course.

“For us as a club and a team, we want to win this cup.

“It has been a long time since we lifted a major trophy so this gives us the opportunity to go and put that right.”

After taking care of Highland League side Fraserburgh in the last round with a 3-0 win at Bellslea Park, Graeme Murty’s side will visit Somerset Park, one of the traditional grounds in Scottish football with its terraces close to the pitch.

Miller, looking for game time for the first time since recovering from a hamstring injury which has kept him out since the middle of December, said: “If you want to win the cup you are going to have to go places like that, put in a performance and get a result.

“I am just looking forward to getting back and involved in a game.

“These games are always tough. If you look at the Fraserburgh game last week, until we got that second goal it was a hard-fought game. I am sure Sunday will be no different.

“They will be right up for it, they are in a good bit of form themselves, so it is important that we approach it properly and go and put in a professional performance.

“I am ready for selection, it will take a bit to get that match sharpness back up but we still have plenty of games and a lot of football to be played before the end of the season.”
