Lauder on the mark for slick Scots

Spartans midfielder Hayley Lauder was on target as Scotland’s women began their Euro 2013 qualifying campaign in rousing fashion with a 6-1 win in Israel.

Former Hibs Ladies player Kim Little, now with Arsenal, was also on the scoresheet along with Jane Ross, Jennifer Beattie and a own goal from the outclassed Israelis.

Anna Signeul’s Scots raced into a two-goal advantage after just nine minutes with Jane Ross making the most of a Megan Sneddon corner and Beattie pouncing after being left unmarked at the back post.

Moran Lavi pulled one back for the hosts but Little struck in the second half, racing from midfield and coolly firing past Shamir in the Israeli goal. Neat play from Leanne Ross on the hour mark found Jennifer Beattie who unselfishly passed across the face of the goal to give Little a simple finish for her second goal. Sub Suzanne Grant’s fine crosses then set up Lauder for a strike before hapless Israel defender Ravitz turned the ball into her own net.

Scotland’s next game is at Tynecastle against Wales on October 27.
