The 32-year-old youth coach will take his first step into football management with his appointment at Central Park.

However, the clubs have reached an agreement that he could return to Tynecastle in future. The deal allows Fox the option to rejoin Hearts if he impresses in charge of the part-time Fife club.

Fox retired from playing to take up a coaching role at Hearts last summer. He coached both the under-17s and under-20s but was keen to take the step up into management.

He has resigned from his position at Riccarton with immediate effect.
