The English Championship outfit made an official approach yesterday for the 16-year-old but their bid was quickly rebuffed by the Lions board.

The striker became the club’s youngest-ever player to make a first-team appearance when he came on as a second-half substitute in the 4-1 victory at St Mirren on Boxing Day. He also played in the 1-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Morton earlier this month.

Knox spent last week on trial with Manchester United and has also trained with Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham.

However, interim chairman Robert Wilson says the club aren’t looking to sell their prized asset and expect him to remain a Livi player when the transfer window closes next week.

“We don’t want to sell him,” Wilson said. “We’ve knocked back Forest’s offer but there might still be some more bids to come in for him. He’s only 16 and I think you’ve got to remember that. We want him to have a future here.”
