Arniston Rangers boss Jock Landells hopes their 6-0 thrashing of Edinburgh United on Wednesday night can spur his side on in their bid to develop some early-season form.
The Gorebridge outfit started the season with a 2-0 defeat away to Lochee United, but bounced back to bag their first points of the season at home to Edinburgh in midweek with striker Lumbert Kataleza hitting four and partner Danny McFaddin notching a double.
Landells is targeting an improvement on last season’s sixth place finish and he believes getting the points on the board early, coupled with maximum points at home can get them there.
“I was disappointed we never came away with something on Saturday against Lochee, so it was good to get three points on the board the other night because you like to get points early doors,” he said.
“Our main goal for this season is just to finish higher than what we finished last season and take it from there. The most important thing is to win all our home games and then take what we can away from home.
“Everything is in place, we just need to try and find a bit of consistency at the start of the season. It’s a really tough league and there isn’t much between the teams – anyone can beat anyone on their day.”
Arniston host Montrose RL tomorrow afternoon, whilst Haddington Athletic will be looking for their first win of the season when they entertain Thornton Hibs. Dalkeith Thistle and Edinburgh face respective away trips to Forfar WE and Oakley United.
