EDINBURGH CITY moved four points clear at the top of the league with a 3-1 home win.
Vale had a chance to take the lead in 37 minutes when Joe Mbu tripped Steven Rixon in the box, but Andrew Stobie guessed correctly to save Robbie Ross’s penalty.
City took the lead two minutes after the restart, trialist Ousman See heading in Dougie Gair’s cross. In 51 minutes, City went further ahead when Mark McConnell’s 25-yard shot hit the bar before hitting Andy McQueen and bouncing into the net.
The third goal came in 62 minutes, Sean Muhsin’s long shot being slapped away by McQueen but only getting as far as Gair, who squared the ball to allow See an easy tap-in. In 76 minutes, Vale got a consolation goal when Keith McLeod stabbed home a pass from Ross.
