Gary Jardine insists Edinburgh City won’t be sacrificing cup progress for potential league success this season.

The Meadowbank club travel to Coldstream in the Image Printers Cup tomorrow with a ten-point lead at the top of the Lowland League, and Jardine is determined to do just as well in cup competitions.

“We’ve done well in the league and we can now put that to one side,” said the manager.

“We want to do well in the cups as well. Some teams in our position would want to give up a cup, but we want to push on and do as well as we can in everything we play in.”

City overcame Coldstream 2-1 in the first round of the William Hill Scottish Cup and Jardine is anticipating another tight game. “I don’t imagine it’ll be any easier. They were well organised with some good players,” he said.

The visitors will be without Chris McKee and Ryan Wilson through injury, while Joe Mbu has a chance of playing after illness

Whitehill Welfare are on cup duty for the second week in succession as Selkirk visit Ferguson Park, while Edinburgh Uni welcome East Kilrbide to Peffermill on Lowland League business.
