Edinburgh City pay for missed chances

Have your say

Unbeaten away from home in the Scottish Cup for nine years, City finally lost that record at Bellslea Park losing 2-0 to Fraserburgh.

The visitors almost took the lead in 48 minutes after some frantic attacking, with the ball eventually cleared after Harrison hit the post. The opening goal came in the 62nd minute. Donaldson was caught in possession and Willie West rounded keeper Alan Mackintosh to shoot into an empty net. Two minutes later Johnston’s snap shot from the right was only a foot or so wide of the City goal.

Fraserburgh doubled their lead in 75 minutes. Mackintosh blocked West’s header from a corner kick, but the rebound fell to the striker and he lashed the ball in from close range. City’s Fowlie and Mark Cowie had scoring chances which both squandered in the final minutes.
