EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY moved up to ninth in the Lowland League after seeing off Selkirk.
Both keepers were kept busy in a lively opening half hour.
On 42 minutes, Edinburgh took the lead after a foul on David Oswald inside the box by Jamie Pyper. Duncan Black scored the penalty.
Selkirk responded well and just on half-time Conor Scott crossed after a well-worked move and Paul Tansley headed firmly home.
Edinburgh moved back ahead on 57 minutes when Oswald released fellow striker Guthrie and he finished powerfully from 15 yards. On 75 minutes, a break down the right by Guthrie outstripped three opponents and his cutback from inside the penalty area found Oswald, who eased the ball home from ten yards.
