A CHRIS GEDDES goal gave Stirling the points in the Lowland League’s battle of the students.
Edinburgh had the better of the early chances with Jack Guthrie twice going close and Scott McCrory-Irving hitting a post with a powerful 25-yard strike.
On 31 minutes, Stirling broke forward quickly and Paul Sludden released Geddes, who slipped the ball past Asher Tufail from 15 yards.
Edinburgh’s midfield created early second-half pressure and Joe Aitken and Guthrie went close. A strong run by Aitken finished with a fierce drive brilliantly saved by Marshall. Good build-up play by the home side created a good chance for Harvey McIntosh but he dragged his shot wide from 15 yards. Stirling continued to press for a decisive second goal and both Sludden and Andrew Gillen had shots well saved by Tufail.
In the final minutes, Edinburgh pressure earned them free-kicks in dangerous areas but Stirling held firm.
