HIBS LADIES swept aside Forfar Farmington 5-0 to march into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, Abi Harrison (2), Cailin Michie, Lia Tweedie and Chloe Arthur all on target at Station Park, Forfar.
Hibs boss Chris Roberts, who shuffled his pack ahead of next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash with Glasgow City, was delighted with his team’s performance. He said: “On the balance of play, I think 5-0 was a fair reflection and the girls thoroughly deserved to be in the hat for the next round.
“Forfar were tricky opponents. We knew they’re dangerous on the counter-attack and are clinical in those situations so we prepared well and handled that threat brilliantly.
“They had spells when they tried to get their foot on the ball and make passes, but we limited their opportunities in front of goal. We’re looking to go all the way and win the competition this season so, if you have targets like that, then you know you’re going to have to overcome some good teams along the way.”
Roberts handed new signing Michie her debut and said: “She had a great debut and delivered a mature performance.
“Her use of the ball was terrific. She made intelligent runs, knew when to hold the ball and when to move it and her delivery from the wide areas was very dangerous.
“Her goal typifies the type of player we have signed. She picked off an interception, drove at Forfar, beating four players before slamming the ball into the top corner of the net. It was a terrific finish to top-off an excellent performance from Cailin. She has a big future ahead of her.”
