There’s a “student derby” at East Peffermill tomorrow as Edinburgh Univeristy welcome their Stirling counterparts in the South Challenge Cup second round.
Dorian Ogunro’s side will be seeking to bounce back from last weekend’s home league defeat by Dalbeattie Star. Key to doing that will be the continued good form of striker Jack Guthrie, a player Ogunro rates every highly.
“He’s been playing so well for long,” his manager said. “He can do everything up front and now he’s getting the goals to go with it. He’s definitely a threat and to be fair it’s not just him – it’s the other two as well. Ross Patterson either scores or assist in almost every game and, along with Joe Aitken, they’re both delivering the goods. That’s probably taken a bit of the pressure off Jack and he’s flourishing.”
Manager-less Preston Athletic welcome Ormiston to the Pennypit in the same competition. The Panners are seeking their third boss in little more than a year following Colin Jack’s resignation earlier this week, while Whitehill Welfare and Spartans both have home ties against Duns and Heriot Watt University respectively.
