A repeat of the 1991 Scottish Junior Cup final could take place in this year’s last eight if Newtongrange Star can beat West Super League First Division outfit Shettleston today.
Cup favourites Auchinleck Talbot, who overcame Bonnyrigg Rose after a fifth-round replay, could visit New Victoria Park on March 14th if Alan Miller’s Nitten side can get through. Newtongrange lost the 1991 final 1-0 to Talbot at Brockville.
Musselburgh Athletic will host the winners of the fifth-round clash between Penicuik Athletic and Arthurlie or Kirkintilloch Rob Roy. Stevie McLeish’s Burgh side overcame Fauldhouse Untied in the fifth round to set up their first quarter-final in the competition since 2011, when they finished runners-up.
Linlithgow Rose, should they get through their fifth-round tie at home to Super League rivals Camelon today, were dealt a favourable quarter-final draw away to West Super League First Division strugglers Yoker Athletic, who sit third bottom in the west’s second tier.
Holders Hurlford United will host fellow west outfit Pollok at Blair Park in the last quarter-final tie.
Hurlford secured their place in the last eight with a comfortable 2-0 win over Su per League champions Bo’ness United.
Ties are to be played on Saturday March 14 at 2.30pm.
