Linlithgow ROSE needed penalties to progress to the semi-finals of the East of Scotland Cup following a 3-3 draw with Armadale last night at Prestonfield, writes JOHN GILMOUR.

Colin Strickland opened the scoring for Super League outfit on 15 minutes before Gary Brown equalised and then put Armadale in front after the break. Ruari McLennan equalised for Rose with brother Roddy getting a third with 20 minutes to go. However, deep into injury time, Armadale won a corner and goalkeeper Stewart Walker headed home for the Premier League side to take the game to penalties. It was Linlithgow who held their nerve to win 8-7.

In the Premier League, Penicuik kept up their slim promotion hopes with a 6-1 demolition of Oakley. Sean Paterson bagged four goals.

In the South Division, Pumpherston maintained the pressure at the top with a 4-3 win at home to West Calder, while Livingston kept their hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Blackburn. Haddington are now waiting to see if they have done enough to grab a Premier League place after beating Whitburn 3-2 in their last league game of the season.
