Former Hibs star Kevin Thomson could line up against his former club tonight in the maroon of Tranent Juniors.

Thomson joined the Foresters Park outfit last month as a player-coach in a shock move after leaving Easter Road for a third time at the end of last season.

Hibs will bring a youthful XI for the friendly fixture at the home of the Premier League new-boys (kick-off 7.30pm), with the Scottish Cup trophy set to be paraded ahead of the game.

Tranent manager Gary Small said: “It will be a really tough test. They are young, athletic and have plenty energy about them. They beat us comfortably last year, so we’ll be looking to improve on that and I want to see an improvement given the players we have brought in.

“I’m happy with how pre-season has gone so far. We’ve tried out a few different formations and the boys are looking fit. I’ve got something like 21 signed players so there is going to be tough competition for places. We’ve been made 4/1 favourites for the league which I personally don’t believe, but we’ll embrace that and we’ll see what happens when the season gets up and running.”

Entry tonight is £5 for adults and £3 for children.
