Kirk looks for young Jambos to boost Preston

Preston Athletic boss Willie Kirk hopes to have more players at his disposal for tomorrow’s trip to East Kilbride than were available for Wednesday’s 7-1 drubbing at Edinburgh City.

A depleted squad meant the struggling Panners could only name three subs at Meadowbank.

However, they could welcome at least one of Aaron Scott, Alistair Roy and Liam Henderson back into the fold, with the young Hearts trio having missed out in midweek as their initial loan deals had expired. “Hopefully we’ll have more available,” he said. “I’m not sure what’s going to happen with the Hearts loans – that should be sorted one way or the other before tomorrow, even if it means an agreement with just one or two of them.

“We’re looking to bring in three new players during January – it would be great if they were permanent.”

Elsewhere, Whitehill welcome John Hall and Darren McGlashan back from suspension for their home match against Selkirk, but Kerr Dodds is banned.

Edinburgh University and Spartans both head south to take on Dalbeattie Star and Vale of Leithen respectively.
