HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY brought Ormiston’s four-match unbeaten run in the Central Taxis First Division to an end.

Second-half goals from Elliot Sutherland, David Kerr and Sean Muhsin handed the students their first victory of 2015, with Ormiston finishing the game with nine men following the dismissals of Redmond Barker and Craig Wojtowycz.

Watt head coach Chris Smith was pleased to see his side improve after the break.

“We were a little jaded in the first half,” said Smith. “Our final ball wasn’t good enough and some players were perhaps feeling the effects of midweek University games and training, but the second half saw an improvement and I’m pleased to get the victory.

Ormi manager Brian Johnston was not happy with some of the refereeing calls, saying: “The first sending off for Redmond was not a red card in my view, and we should have had a penalty when it was 2-0 but didn’t get it. There were some very contentious decisions today but we’ll just have to regroup.”
