Preston Athletic bowed out of the Scottish Cup at the first stage as they went down 3-2 at home to Highland League side Fort William
The visitors took the lead on ten minutes a quick free-kick caught out Preston and Donald MacPhee placed his effort inside the far post.
The hosts nearly equalised immediately as Andrew Gilchrist’s cross was nearly turned into the net by Fort’s Darren Quigg, but five minutes into the second period John MacLeod doubled the advantage after good work from Farquhar Macrae.
Preston’s reply was swift as Juan Belope rifled an effort off the bar and into the net, but Fort responded and on the hour-mark MacLeod broke the added his second of the match.
Preston’s Jamie Todd was then sent off after two bookings in the space of four minutes, with the second one being particularly contentious.
The ten men rallied and a good run and shot by Reece Cochrane deflected in off a defender, but they could not find an equaliser and Fort made the second round for the first time in their history.
