Spartans are aiming to avoid a fourth-successive Lowland League home match without a win when second-placed Gretna 2008 head to Ainslie Park tomorrow.

The champions last picked up maximum league points in North Edinburgh back on November 8 in a 3-0 triumph over Gala Fairydean Rovers, and will hope to rediscover their home form ahead of next week’s William Hill Scottish Cup showdown with Berwick Rangers.

New signing Eddie Malone will be hoping to play again. The defender this week agreed a deal until the end of the season after appearing as a trialist for Dougie Samuel’s men in their last two matches. John Grant will miss out having left Ainslie Park on crutches following last week’s draw with Edinburgh University, while striker Keith McLeod is suspended following his straight red card in the same game.

Dorian Ogunro’s Uni team make the short trip to the Pennypitt to play Preston Athletic in their Lowland League Cup Central Section A fixture, Willie Kirk’s side having drawn a blank against BSC Glasgow last week.
