Mikey Bruce is targeting a silver end to the season with Spartans ahead of their Lowland League Cup semi-final away to Gretna tomorrow.
Dougie Samuel’s mean play two semis in the space of four days, with yet another trip to Ferguson Park on Tuesday to take on Whitehill in the last four of South Challenge Cup.
For now though, the priority is winning at Raydale Park and making sure there’s at least one cup final to look forward to. “A club of our stature should be challenging for every major trophy we’re involved in,” said Bruce. “With missing out on the league, we need to finish off this campaign by trying to get to the final of the remaining competitions and lifting the two trophies.”
That will be easier said than done. The last league meeting with tomorrow’s opponents required a stoppage time Keith Murray goal to secure a 2-1 win. “It was a hard one because we were in control of the game so it maybe looked tighter than it was but going down there is always hard. They’ll be up for it as well and will want to finish off their campaign with silverware too. We’re expecting a hard tie.”
