Raymond Carr’s men could assume top spot should they overcome Tynie for a second time tomorrow night, meaning they would require just a point at Kelty on Saturday to defend their league crown.

Willis Hare opened the scoring in the ninth minute for Lothian, who were playing their fourth game in six days before a 30-yard wonder strike midway through the second half from Louis Swanson wrapped up a precious three points.

Tynecastle, meanwhile, remain in sixth spot.
