Hutchison Vale coach Ian McDonald admits he got the performance, although not the result, that he craved as his side lost a seven-goal thriller against Rangers at Petershill Park.

Goals by Michelle Russell, Katherine Smart and Jamie Torrance saw Hutchie lead 3-2 going into the last 10 minutes, only for the home side to level and then Suzanne MacTaggart snatched victory for the ’Gers with the final kick of the ball.

“To lead going into the final minutes of the game and then lose the way we did was devastating,” commented McDonald.

Rangers’ victory moved them above Spartans in the league table after the Ainslie Park club drew at home to Inverness City.

A first-half double by Sarah Ewens put Spartans in charge, but Natalie Bodiam reduced the deficit with 20 minutes remaining and in the final minute Karen Mason scored from the penalty spot to snatch a point for the Highlanders.

Hibernian Ladies maintained their 100 per cent winning start to the season with a comfortable 6-1 victory over Hamilton Academical at Albyn Park thanks to goals by Kirsty Smith, Siobhan Hunter, Joelle Murray, Kirsty McLaughlin, Caroline Weir and an own goal by (Kirsten McGuire). Hibs are locked on points with Glasgow City and Celtic at the top of the table.
