The weekend postponement of Whitehill’s Image Printers Cup tie against Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale means Mickey Lawson will travel to Gretna tonight minus several first-team regulars.

John Hall, Wayne Sproule and Willie Kidd are suspended, leaving Lawson short on options. “With the injuries and suspensions we are having to cope with we need more players,” he said. “At best we have ten available first-team players able to travel down to Raydale. Kyle Quinn, Kerr Dodds and John-Ross Kerr are injured, Willie Kidd, John Hall and Wayne Sproule are suspended and unfortunately Danny Noon can’t get a shift change. Seven non-starters from an 18 man pool leaves us short.”

Lawson has acquired reinforcements from the U20s with Jack Jardine, Daniel McKinlay, James Flynn and Johnny Scott-Mercer all featuring in a weekend bounce game against Heriot-Watt. “This season 11 different under-20 players have stripped for the first team and they take turns of training with us on a Thursday so they are as comfortable in first-team surroundings as the ‘big boys’ are having them around. Jack, Johnny, James and Daniel all did really well on Saturday and my lot have confidence in them which is paramount.”
