Whitehill Welfare are hoping the weather eases up ahead of their East of Scotland Qualifying Cup second-round tie against Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale tomorrow.

The Ferguson Park club haven’t been able to play much football in recent weeks and, should this weekend’s game go ahead, Mickey Lawson is expecting a stern test, with defender John Hall unavailable.

“I ran my eyes over Lothian on the 3G at Meadowbank against Leith on Saturday,” said Lawson. “There’s no chance we’d ever take Kevin Twaddle’s side lightly, but watching them reinforced that notion. While I was in Spain last summer we took on a friendly against Kevin’s lot at short notice on the artificial surface at Saughton and we were turned over.

“I’m assured the 6-1 score didn’t reflect the way the game was played that night, but I can be forgiven for reminding our lot before Saturday.”

Edinburgh City travel to Coldstream in the second round of the Image Printers. Joe Mbu is back after time abroad and Mark McConnell is fit again, although Chris McKee, Mark Torrance and John MacDonald are injured.
