Edinburgh City will kick-off the defence of their Lowland League title with a home tie against Gretna 2008 at Meadowbank on Saturday, August 1 in a repeat of the fixture that saw them lift the trophy.

Colin Jack’s first league game as Preston Athletic boss will come against Gala Fairydean Rovers at The Pennypit.

Spartans are scheduled to begin their season with a trip to Forthbank against Stirling University in a reverse of last year’s opening fixture. This will be moved to Sunday, August 2 however, should Stirling Albion be drawn at home in the Scottish League Cup first round.

Grant Carney will attempt to record his first league win as Whitehill manager against last season’s bottom club Threave Rovers, who are the first visitors of the season to Ferguson Park. Edinburgh University are on the road as they face Selkirk at Yarrow Park.

The first Edinburgh derby of the season comes on October 10 when Edinburgh City host Spartans, with the return fixture on January 2.
