Edinburgh University and city rivals Spartans couldn’t be separated as they played out a 1-1 draw at a sodden Peffermill last night.

It’s a better point for Dorian Ogunro’s men who got their Lowland League campaign off to a winning start with a 3-0 victory at Gretna 2008 last Saturday.

For champions Spartans, however, it’s their second consecutive draw in four days which leaves them four points adrift of top-of-the-table East Kilbride.

Jack Smith had the first opportunity on goal for the visitors but fired wide of the target.

The Uni, however, grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and found themselves ahead just before the hour mark through a spectacular strike from distance from Finn Daniel-Yeomans.

However, Dougie Samuel’s outfit were level just three minutes later through Jason Stevens’ close-range finish.

Substitute Blair Atkinson came close to snatching a winner but both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Civil Service Strollers lost out 2-0 to Stirling University at Forthbank.

Following a goalless first half, Thomas Cowley edged the students in front before Dominic Slattery sealed the win late on.
