McAleavy boss at Strollers

Chic McALEAVY has been appointed as the new manager of East of Scotland League Central Taxis Premier Division side Civil Service Strollers after the resignation last month of Garry Aitchison.

McAleavy was previously the boss of Lothian Thistle and he has not been involved in football since leaving the Saughton Enclosure outfit at the end of last season. Strollers currently sit in fourth-top position and with five league games left, McAleavy is keen to maintain a position in the top-half of the table.

“The Strollers have lost their previous three league games so my immediate aim is to get the players back into a winning habit,” stressed McAleavy. “I wasn’t planning to come back into management at this moment in time but when I was approached by the Strollers committee I was impressed by them and decided to take on what will be a big challenge.”

McAleavy will be assisted by former Hibs player and current Evening News columnist Michael Weir.

Tonight, Lothian Thistle travel to meet high-flying third-placed Stirling University in the Premier Division, kick-off 7.30pm, needing points to ease themselves away from the relegation zone.
