The home side took the lead after only five minutes when Kris Renton flicked the ball into the path of Mattie King who fired the ball high past the keeper.
Five minutes later a shot from Craig Smart came back off the post to deny the visitors an equaliser and on fifteen minutes Musselburgh increased their lead when Brian Murray collected the ball just outside the box and coolly lobbed the keeper, who had strayed a yard off his line.
On the stroke of half time Hill of Beath’s Stephen Bathgate was clean through with only the keeper to beat, but his lob went over the bar and the ’Burgh went in two goals ahead. The second half was pretty uneventful until five minutes from time when Chris Seeley pulled a goal back for the visitors when he shot home from 20 yards, but the home side held out to progress into the third round.
