Neil Lennon: Hibs are ready to dish out '˜very heavy beating'

The Capital side have won all three, against Falkirk, Dunfermline and St Mirren, but while happy with his player’s performance in each match, the Hibs boss has conceded the only criticism he can level at them has been the fact they haven’t scored more than the six goals those games produced.

Unsurprisingly, Jason Cummings is the Easter Road outfit’s top scorer and, as yet, only goal scorer, the 21-year-old having already taken his tally to five with Hibs sixth courtesy of Pars defender Ben Richards-Everton nodding the ball into his own net.

Lennon, however, was adamant he isn’t concerned that no other player than Cummings has scored, although he admitted he’s looking for others to begin chipping in with goals.

Ross Country striker Brian Graham was added to Lennon’s squad on the eve of the trip to Paisley, augmenting the firepower of Cummings, Grant Holt and James Keatings, while the Hibs manager believes fellow new signing Andrew Shinnie and Scotland midfielder John McGinn are among those who’ll be finding their names on the scoresheet.

He said: “We cannot keep relying on Jason, but we do have goal-scorers in the team. Brian should have wrapped up the St Mirren game at the end. Andrew had a couple of chances and John hit the bar, he has that in his locker.

“I’ve always said it takes four or five games to get into your stride but we have three wins already which is pleasing. Against St Mirren the attitude was really good, we know in this division it’s not easy to go away from home.

“You know you are going to be up against it, but I thought we handled the game very well. We showed good control and application, the concentration was good and we created a lot of chances again.

“I keep saying, one of these days we are going to give someone a very heavy beating if we play like that.”
