Neil Lennon: Hibs don't need to sell Jason Cummings

Neil Lennon claims Hibs have no need to sell Jason Cummings after the club rejected a £1 million-plus offer for the player from Peterborough United.

The Easter Road head coach convinced Cummings to sign a new four-year contract earlier this summer.

Lennon says he talked through Peterborough’s offer with chief executive Leeann Dempster and the club is happy with the decision not to sell to the English League One side

“I’ve not given it a second thought,” Lennon said of the offer. “The bid came in on Thursday and I spoke to Leeann and the board.

“We are comfortable with the decision. We don’t need to sell him, we worked hard to get him on a new contract in the summer.

“It was a fair offer from Peterborough but we feel this is the best place for Jason just now.”

Cummings, 21, has been Hibs’ top scorer over the last two seasons, netting 46 league and cup goals.

He helped them win the Scottish Cup in May when they defeated Rangers in the final.
