Walker set up the opening two goals and rifled home the fourth as United thumped Forfar West End in their semi-final at Newtown Park.

“We’re finishing the season off and want silverware for our efforts,” said Walker. “It’s been a funny season for us. We’ve lost a lot of players who had delivered for us, and that has taken its toll on the rest. On Saturday, though, we delivered for our supporters.”

The game could easily have swung Forfar’s way had a Ross McDonald effort gone in after five minutes but his shot cracked off the post with goalkeeper Scott Christie well beaten.

Bo’ness grabbed the opening goal only minutes later. The ball was played out to Walker on the right and he weighted a cross to the back post where Chris Donnelly looped a header over goalkeeper Darryl Burns and into the net. A second goal arrived for Bo’ness after 35 minutes. Mattie Wright was sent crashing in the box for a penalty which Will Snowdon took. Burns saved well, palming out to his left but Walker picked up the loose ball before crossing for Snowdon to head home from five yards.

In the second half, Bo’ness quickly added a third when Wright prodded the ball home after a Walker effort was blocked.

A tame second period followed until Bo’ness completed the scoring with the last kick of the game. That man Walker ran through on goal before slamming the ball high past Burns into the net.
