No, it’s not a cricket score . . Hibs Ladies batter Killie 19-1

Hibernian Ladies moved back into second place in the Scottish Women’s Premier League table with a whopping 19-1 victory over Kilmarnock at the weekend.

The Hibees ruthlessly battered their opponents with a clinical display of attacking football that left coach Willie Kirk delighted with his charges.

“It was pleasing to see the goals shared around the team and the level of finishing was fantastic. We also took the opportunity to field a few youngsters and they can be pleased with their debuts.”

Claire Emslie (4), Kirsty Smith (3), Joelle Murray (3), Rebecca Zoltie (2), Siobhan Hunter (2), Ellen Pia (2), Lisa Robertson (2) and Laura Kennedy scored for Hibs, whilst Sam McManus netted Killie’s consolation.

Elsewhere, Hutchison Vale’s recent run of bad luck continued when they drew 1-1 with Falkirk. Nikki Russell gave Hutchie an early lead but they were unable to make the most of their dominance and were made to pay after the break when Emma Lyons snatched a point for the Bairns with a shot from 30 yards.

Boss Ian McDonald said: “We should have won because we created enough opportunities to win several games. It’s beginning to feel a bit like Groundhog Day. They managed to score with their only shot at goal, which I’m sure if she tried to repeat it another 100 times she would fail on every occasion.”

Second-half goals from Nicky Grant and Caroline Henderson saw Spartans slip to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Forfar Farmington.
