Police issue advice to Hibs and Celtc fans ahead of Easter Road clash

POLICE have issued safety advice to fans travelling to Sunday's sold-out Scottish Premiership clash between Hibernian and Celtic.

The two rivals will face each other at Easter Road at 12.30pm as Hibs attempt to bring the champions’ domestic unbeaten run to an end.

Chief Inspector Gill Geany said: “I would like to remind supporters of both teams to behave appropriately so that the experience is not tarnished for themselves or others.

“I will have an appropriate police presence in and around Easter Road to keep the public safe and deter any criminal activity before, during and after the match.

“Part of our role on the day will be to assist stewarding staff with searches, and I want to remind fans that alcohol, flares and other banned items must not be brought to the stadium. If you are found in possession of these items, you will not get in and are likely to face further police action and this can ultimately lead to a football banning order.

“Similarly, no one will be allowed access to the stadium whilst drunk.”

“I would like to highlight that Celtic supporters buses will be parking on Regent Road as normal however due to roadworks at Abbeyhill, the Celtic buses will be directed to take a right at Abbeymount, round past the Scottish Parliament, through Holyrood Park and exit at Meadowbank for the onward journey home.

“Roads Policing officers will be there to assist.”
