Rangers set up a William Hill Scottish Cup final against Hibs after beating Celtic on penalties following a 2-2 draw at Hampden.

Tom Rogic, who had levelled for Celtic in extra-time, missed the vital spot-kick, blazing high and wide.

Rangers striker Kenny Miller had put his side in front in the first half, with Celtic equalising through an Erik Sviatchenko header after the break.

A superb long-range strike from Barrie McKay had Rangers in front six minutes into extra-time before Rogic swept home in the second period to take the game to penalties.

James Tavernier and Nicky Clark failed to convert from the spot for Rangers, while Callum McGregor and captain Scott Brown failed for Celtic before Rogic’s miss saw the Championship winners triumph 5-4.

Rangers’ progression means that Hibs’ on-loan Celtic players Anthony Stokes and Liam Henderson will be available to play in the final at Hampden on Saturday, May 21. The Hibees beat Dundee United on penalties yesterday to seal their place in the final.

For the first time in the competition’s history, two teams from outside the top tier will contest the final.

And Hibs and Rangers meet in the league this Wednesday night at Easter Road as Alan Stubbs’ side chase a second-place finish.
