We can keep away run up, says Wallace

LEE WALLACE sees no reason why Rangers cannot extend their winning away run in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League when they travel to Aberdeen today.

The Scottish champions head into the lunchtime clash with 13 consecutive league victories on the road under their belts and aiming to keep the winning streak going.

Pittodrie has been a tough venue for Rangers in the past and Wallace is expecting a difficult encounter, but has every faith in their ability to deliver the three points.

He said: “It’s an impressive away record and hopefully that can continue on Saturday.

“It’s going to be an exciting match and a tough match. A lot of folk find it tough going up there and we’re no different.

“It’s always a hard place to go but if we do our jobs right and go about our business in the correct manner we should win the game.”

On the rivalry between the two clubs, the left-back added: “There has always been a bit of a spicy atmosphere to it.

“The starting XI that goes out there are just solely focused on the game and that’s what this football club is all about.

“We will go into the game with confidence and with this impressive away form and we will try to continue it.”

Wallace has forced his way back into the first team after recovering from injury and hopes he can stay there despite strong competition for places.

He said: “I played in about eight games to start with, which I was happy with.

“Then I suffered the setback with the strain on my groin and I was back in the physio’s room for five or six weeks. It did play on my mind.

“I was getting a bit frustrated considering I only played nine games last season.

“It was about working hard with the physios and I was just glad to get back out there.

“It’s great to be a part of everything. I’ve been fortunate enough to get a few games under my belt and I’m grateful to the manager for that.

“I just hope, with hard work on the training field and good performances on the pitch, I can stay there.”
