Rooney gets nod to start

Sir ALEX FERGUSON believes Wayne Rooney proved on Saturday that there is no need to leave him on the bench again in Romania tonight.

Rooney was surprisingly omitted from the Manchester United starting line-up to face Liverpool at the weekend because he was “devastated” at picking up a three-match ban that would rule him out of the entire European Championships if England fail to emerge from their group.

And the England star will be involved from the start tonight as United look to find winning form in the Champions League when they tackle Otelul Galati.

“When he came on against Liverpool he was quite bubbly,” said Ferguson.“He was desperate to get on, which is good. He’ll be playing tonight.”
